    Check this out:

    http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?p=7589354

Boredom, free time and a dearth of games lead to a creative, fun and enthusiastic pet project. This is truly awesome, and I wanted to give it its own thread outside of the July Stuff thread.

This gets a big fat Laser Princess Thumbs Up from me. In fact, as I find some time I'll be doing it myself.

I just wanted to open this thread up to be a rolling, gigantic fucking mess of a thread. Most of the "Story Games" that we talk about here are seeped in this "first you create situation, then you create characters" or at the very least "you create characters in an environment where your group is together, hashing out ideas". Damn straight.

However, for the purposes of this thread, I'd love to see people just throw in characters for games they own (better yet: Try also focusing on games you own but haven't played yet, just so you can crack the cover again, see what makes it tick, etc). One to a post, two to a post, or a link to a post on your blog each time you update it with a new character.

For the purpose of this thread, pretend that for games where group character generation is a must (shock:), or situation comes before character generation (Legends of Alyria), pretend that you already hashed out the details with your group and this is your contribution. If you wish, you can post your imaginary group's contributions in a sentence or two and how your character emerged from that.

Any system is kosher, from Hippie Filth Madness to Dungeons and Dragons/GURPS (for the latter, though, we'll probably be more impressed with the stats plus cool character concept attached, more than just "Awesome Combat Loadout").

And if you see a character that looks cool for one of those "group chargen" games, feel free if you want to post your character as a companion to an earlier one (Example: Person A posts a sentence about her imaginary "shock:" concept, and the character that fits in that concept. Later, Person B comes along, thinks that Person A's concept rocks, so she also creates a character that fits into Person A's campaign concept, as if they were players at the same game).

EDIT: And so that this doesn't turn into a big "My Awesome Game is Awesome" cheesy promo thread, I'm gonna ask for a common rule of "If you create a character for a game that you have designed or are designing, that's fine, but at least do one for a game that you DIDN'T design first."

    -Andy

(my first contribution will be when I get home tonight, unless I have a PDF copy on my work PC hidden somewhere).

    Cold-blooded (-1 hesitation for pain/shock)
Booming voice (call on for command once per session)
Hands of iron (hands are power 1 weapon)
Aches and pains, obsessed, veneer of obedience

Born slave, pillager, bandit, freebooter, freebooter, captain

LOL. And yet, I thought of a side-effect of this kind of venture: A thread, filled with possible NPCs to use in your own games, else some cool campaign/game setup ideas that could perhaps inspire others to run a campaign (I call this "The Judd Effect").

    BTW, here's my first contribution:

    WITH GREAT POWER

The Setup: The Great Horror has burst from the Earth in Lima, Peru, spitting seeds of chaos into the atmosphere. Those few hit with the seeds develop creepy superpowers. Imagine Clive Barker meets Superfriends. Lots of guys use their powers for personal gain. A very few use their powers For Evil (which is also a quick way to get the seeds to react, granting more power). Another few band together to make sure the evil/personal gain folks stay in line.

Hero: Penny Jackson - AKA - Kabbaksuul
Concept: Penny was a schoolteacher in the inner city of Chicago. Infected on her way home one day, she gained a new name and powers as KABBAKSUUL. She now fights evil in and around the city, and still tutors schoolkids in area schools in her free-time.
The Struggle: Serving the People vs Rejection by the People.

Serving the People Aspect: School Teacher
Risk: Ejection from PTA. Losing job as tutor. Losing standing in community.
Serving the People Aspect: Lashawn Price (elementary schoolkid)
Risk: Kidnapped by enemies. Mistrust. Breaking appointments.
Rejection by the People Aspect: KABBAKSUUL (identity and powers)
Risk: Powers become unstable. A deeper personality emerges and takes over.
Rejection by the People Aspect: Lucius Jackson (uncle and preacher)
Risk: Uncle discovers her identity. Lucius preaches intolerance in his ministry.

EDIT: Coming up: My Life with Master, Nine Worlds, Burning Empires, Whispering Vault, Legends of Alyria, OVA, Spirit of the Century, Universalis(!!!) and more

I just wanted to chime in that organizing skills from best to worst, a la SotC/FATE, is just the greatest thing ever. I feel the urge to do this with every RPG, henceforth.

Heh, "Every Game I Own" was the original dude's challenge to himself. I'll probably do 20. However, at this time, not counting my Japanese RPGs, that's about the number of games I currently own in print (again that number in PDF).

Hmmm. Probably should be new characters, UNLESS it is just so awesome that you simply cannot resist sharing, which is cool too.

My motivation for doing this (which doesn't have to be everyone's motivation) is to take some games that I have at home that I haven't played as much as I would like -- Perhaps because I never took the time to read the rules on chargen, etc -- and give the game a second look by creating a new character. In doing so, and seeing others, it may inspire an upcoming game, or things to use in my existing games. But that's just me.

I took the title to mean stat up games *as* characters. So Wushu, for instance, statted in Wushu:

    Name:Wushu
    Traits:
Principal of Narative Truth - 5
Let the action roll! - 4
    Scrub roll - 3
    Weakness:
    Whew, I'm exhausted! - 1

    Legends of Alyria

Setup: Two months ago the Ark opened up, and its inhabitants spilled into the wastes, forming outpost villages and entering/joining with other local villages. Recently, there's been a lot of martial conflict with the Citadel's house troops over issues like resources and the like. The Arm of Seven, a team of fierce and loyal soldiers of the Ark, have been activated and sent into the villages to protect their interests. Unfortunately, the masters back at the Ark did not forsee that key members of the Arm of Seven would develop identity problems when mingling with non-Arks that would make them question themselves. Identity and personality struggles take place while the real menace grows.

Note: This is built on the scale:
    Unicorn
    Blessed
    Ark
    Misbegotten
    Dragon
    Devil's Hour

    Arm Corporal Three
A loyal Ark soldier who will readily put down any threat as commanded, but even so is having doubts about the Ark way (lack of identity, etc)

    Virtue: Ark

    Attributes
    Determination: Ark
    Insight:Misbegotten
    Force: Ark

    Traits:
    Chivalrous - Unicorn
    Steel Resolve - Blessed
    Loyal to Ark - Misbegotten

I/C: Arm Corporal Three begins with one point of Inspiration, one point of Corruption

Update with a few new characters: The Character Project Blog

As of now I have Ganakagok, Heroes Banner, Burning Empires, Contenders and my latest edition, Whispering Vault. For the WV characters I am trying to create Stalkers that are inspired from iconic D&D monsters.

If you click on the name of the game it links to the game site or it's wiki. If you click on the subject beside it it goes to the character. Go often and don't forget to refresh often.

Christain and Bill, I replied to your comments. One thing I don't like about blogger is that I havn't figured out a way to make it notify me via email when theres a comment. It's a minor thing if I go there often.

Tomb is a GURPS 4E International Super Team character I finished this morning. He is intended for actual play. (I hope that I am not badwronging the lonely fun by showing off a character I intend to play.)

Since he's built on 750 points, his game writeup will take up about a yard of vertical screen space. And I can't figure out how to get a straight text export out of the GURPS character builder anyway. So I'll just quote his background:

Tomb is a Canadian from Halifax.

He flew a CF-18 jet in the first Gulf War. Was shot down. He crashed at very high speed into the unholy ruins of an old Babylonian temple. His body was never recovered -- but was resurrected by unknown dark magic. Five years later, he clawed his way out of the desert and stumbled to Kuwait.

There wasn't much left for him. His widow Claudia had remarried. The military had no position for him. So he joined NASA and became an astronaut. He worked repair and construction jobs on the International Space Station. He was naturally suited for this work, because he did not need oxygen, food, water, radiation shielding or pressure support.

What he did need was protection from the Avisha Circle, a gang of sorcerers who worship the old Babylonian gods. They want to conduct research on him. Being in space put him mostly out of their reach.

Unfortunately, because of budget cuts, his astronaut position was eliminated, and now he's joined IST.

I have to keep track of a ToDo list so I will do it here:
    - If Jason posts a situation for his Synibarr character I will link my Synabarr character to his.
    - I am making a 9W Sidereal.
    - I am SO making a character with traits pulled from a band's song titles!
    - I will do another minion from Andy's My Life setting.
  8.  # 35
I don't think situation exists in The World of Synnibar. Alan Johnson is a Scarlet frickin' Tiger! He is an evildoer! He can run faster than an arrow! There's your situation.

Here's a classic GDW Traveller guy, ready to join a mercenary company:

Lieutenant Colonel Bint, 30 years old, 78B589
Tactics 2, Vehicle (grav tank) 3, Brawling 1, Admin 1, Guns (shotgun) 1, Guns (pistol) 2, Guns (rifle) 1, Guns (smg) 1
25,000 credits, one high passage, one low passage

Wow, it's been over six weeks since the last post. I think GenCon threw me off course. Anyway, now I've got more games to stat characters out in, and this thread is still firmly in the back of my mind. I'm going to start up the engine again probably next week once I've completed this big fat work project.

I just found this site and the thread. I've been slowly working on my characters for a while now. I have almost finished a Spirit of the Century character but I need some other character's novels for the last two phases.

I see a few characters from games I've never heard of here. I'll have to check them out!

My characters are on my blog.

Here's my mashup of a Trollbabe Exalted character concept.

    Tepet Najrasami “Tiger Naj”
    Concept: Disgraced Veteran
    Fire Aspected Terrestrial Exalted

    Number 7
    Prowess 1-7 (Twisting Serpent Style)
    Sorcery 8-10 (Endurance Charms)
    Guile 7-10 (Sarcastic retort)

    Rerolls:
    • Amazing Stunt
    • Charm
    • Fire Anima Banner (Blaze of fury)
    • Fire Affinity (Sudden Ally)
    • Limit Break: Withdraw from battle (Valor) – spend next scene in destructive fury.
    • Starting Relationship: Verate Silver, a burly henchman Naj suspects is spying on him for one of the Houses.

    Backstory:
Tepet Najrasami was a junior officer with the Tepet legions when they went north to confront the threat of the barbarian warlord known as “The Bull of the North.” The legions were slaughtered, and Najrasami was one of the few to escape. He returned to disgrace, his House’s power broken, he was sentenced to exile in the Threshold. He lost much of his immediate family in the North, including his beloved grandfather. Bitter and filled with self-doubt, he nonetheless dreams of the day he can once again face the Bull of the North and avenge his family and House.

    Appearance:
Close-cropped black hair, clean-shaven with small soul patch under lip. Ruddy bronze complexion. Amber eyes deepen to a hot coal glow when he is angered. In his forties, but looks younger. Cherry red enameled armor with tigers engraved on it and outlined in indigo. Indigo cloak edged with stylized golden flames. Riding boots, black gauntlets also carry a flame pattern. Iron brooch has the Tepet sigil worked on it in silver. Weapons are a pair of curved dueling daggers.

    Two Starting Items:
    • Grandfather’s shattered daiklaive, salvaged from battle with Bull of the North.
    • Copper amulet received from Orika, a barbarian woman who was his lover in the weeks before the battle with the Bull of the North, and left him to join the enemy army. He keeps it as a reminder of betrayal.

    Kicker:
Naj managed to eke out an invitation to a ball hosted by the local Dragon-Blooded potentate in his city of exile. The host’s son arrives with a woman on his arm: it is Orika, clad in fine silks and carrying herself with the sophistication of an aristocrat.

    INSTINCT:
    1) Never harm a child.

    Fearcaster (Iron Heroes)

Only the important parts for now, because I'm at work and don't have the book here:

    STR 8 (-1)
    DEX 14 (+2)
    CON 10 (0)
    INT 16 (+3)
    WIS 12 (+1)
    CHA 18 (+4)

    Traits:
Shadow Born (Infernal Glower: Intimidate +4)

    Skills:
    Indimidate 4
    Bluff 4

    Aspect of Power:
    Intimidate +5

    Feats:
    Overwhelming Presence I
    Skill Focus: Intimidate (+3)

    Magic:
    Focused on changing emotions.

    Final tally for intimidation: +20

Level 2 will raise it by 3 more points (one skill rank, +2 synergy with Bluff). I could have picked Skill Affinity (Intimidate, Bluff) for another +2 instead of OP, but OP is just too cool and fits with the concept.
