    Alex, Buddha, Kevin, and Nick:

If, perchance, you still have your character sheets/notes from the "playstorm" of that late-night PDQ# Space Opera game we played at Camp Nerdly 3, I would really appreciate it if you could type them up and email them to me -- chadu AT yahoo DOT com -- or even just post them here, so I can add them to the game log.

(Indeed, some SG folks might be interested in seeing such a thing; I dunno.)

Since I plan on making PDQ# SpOp ("spop!") my go-to game for conventions, having a list of cool Setting the Dials info, Planets, Fortes, Techniques, and full-on character write-ups already on-hand will help speed things up EVEN MORE.

Additionally, some fruitful conversations with Ryan and Fred gave me some good ideas on how to create handouts to help facilitate the stuff we did on scratch paper.

    Thanks!

    I'd be happy to Chad.

    My character info:

Name: Godfrey Weever (modeled after Victorian England naming conventions)

    Planet: Beryllium
Beryllium is a dense, heavy gravity planet with a toxic atmosphere; however, it is extremely rich in minerals and precious metals, including the very in demand "Space Crystals" that make starflight possible. Because of this the Beryllians tend to be very wealthy and even their poorer citizens can expect to be treated well on other planets in the galaxy.

Motivation: True Love (Melinda of Selenium, daughter of the Selenium Dion, high matriarch of the Selenians)

    Foible: True Love

Swashbuckling Forte: Space Ranger Expert [+4]
Techniques: Idiom: Brutal Weapon: Sword and Blaster Situation: Innocent Bystanders

    Forte: Smooth Talker Good [+2]

    Forte: Aristocrat Good [+2}
    Techniques: Location: Everywhere BUT Beryllium

I think that's pretty much it for the character. Do you want my take on the story as well, or are you pretty happy with the notes you took during the session? I seem to recall you wrote down all of the setting specifics as we came up with them.

Oh, and thanks again for running such a fun session! I know my experiences on Saturday will make the game I'm running this weekend better by far.

I just wrote down the Facts as we established them. Almost nothing about the actual story, so go NUTS.

    I had a great time!

    Name: Lance
    Planet: Mercury
Mercury is a crossroads of several trade routes. It's history is full of invasions and oppression by off-world powers. Several Hundred years ago Mercury declared it's self to be a Free Port and would let anyone make port. These days any desire can be found in it's Marketplaces.. Mercury has become a den of Merchant kings, and thieves.

Most Mercuricans are quick witted, having to choose their words very carefully..

    Past: Blockade Runner Good [+2]
    Motivation: Funding Good [+2]
    Foible: Honesty

    Swashbuckling Forte: Precognition Expert [+4]
    Swashbuckling Techniques:
    • Situation: Being shoot at!
    • Maneuver: Attacking

    Forte: Ranger Good [+2]
Forte: Gear, Mist Cloak Good [+2]
Forte: Ship "Lance-A-Lot" Good [+2], Stealthy Good [+2]
    Unchained Technique: Maneuver: Verbal Quip

    IN SPACE!

(Er, you can play it at conventions I happen to be at for the foreseeable future. I plan for this to be my quicky-prep game for the playingness, and am not even THINKING of productizing it for a Good Long While.)

Just get the PDQ# rules, or better yet S7S* and retheme your game for Space Opera.

Our group did this when the PDQ# rules were first published. It worked out great!

*S7S has rules for Ship combat and Mystic powers. Lance's Precognition is a Mystic power..
In play I used it like Inspectres confessionals.. to make trouble for us. Oh sure a Precog knows where to be to save his skin.. but there are unintended consequences.

I really liked the way that sort of thing you were doing played out.

I have... but I haven't seen that sort of scene-setting via Precognition used in play. Very neat.

Chat have you played The Mountain Witch? And not a Con Demo, I mean a three or four session campaign.

TMW suggests that PC's do something Similar when authoring their dark fates...
