edited May 2011 in Story Games
(This is a playset that I would like to offer for Go Play NW 2011. Comments and suggestions welcomed!)

Are you willing to swallow a soul-eating telepathic insect bent on destroying human civilization?

No?

Even if it will make Crane Books read your manuscript?

Setting
A suburban hotel, crammed full of neophyte writers from every corner of the continent.

Victory
The unroached character with the most status receives an $850 one-book deal with Crane Books.

  • Ok, that got me laughing like I failed a sanity check, especially the description of Neil Gaiman.

  • I had thought about a Writer's Conference as a Fiasco playset. This may actually work better.

Why does Neil Gaiman only show up once? I thought NPCs in the Roach were supposed to show up several times, s you can build on your previous egregious acts.

Neil Gaiman is sort of the perfect author to use as an NPC for this sort of thing, too.
  • I figured Neil Gaiman would dominate any event he appeared in, so he gets just a cameo.

To compensate, James Richter Beaufort gets an extra event.
  • God, yes. Johnzo, you've done it again.

There is no way for me to stop smiling.

i can't think of anything out of place, but then, the tears in my eyes are affecting my vision.
  • As someone who works in publishing, this immediately filled me with glee. And horror. Probably mostly horror.

    Well done!
  • I'm monopolizing Paranormal Romance at GPNW and everyone else can just BACK THE F#CK OFF.
  • How could you say no to this?

    Thanks everyone!

I'm thinking that in addition to choosing a Category, your writer must also select a title for their current manuscript.

I myself am feeling drawn to the Business and Management category. My manuscript is currently titled Gantt Buy Me Love! but y'know I'm not married to that or anything.
