Farkle as a resolution mechanic?

Has something similar to farkle ever been used as a dice mechanics in RPGs?
I'm looking both at the idea of scoring combinations (like poker hands, with dice) and - especially - the idea that on "hot dice" a player is allowed to roll again, possibly greatly increasing their score, at the risk of "farkling".
