  • Posted By: Andy Non-Commercial, I was a little like, "Oh, C'mon, seriously?", as if they were diving into the CC pool at the deep end, but staying within one foot of the ladder Just In Case. Do remember that while PHS developed EP, it was CGL that …
  • Uruguay: There are gaming pubs and clubs. Yes, Pundit is here and runs some excellent games. I'm here too. ;-) Argentina: I know there are some clubs, but I haven't visited them. Try your luck at hobby stores like Entelequia or El Club del Comic. …
  • Posted By: JarrodThis is absolutely sassy. I'd love to jump into an R3K game as Zhang Hei and condescend to pompous fat feudal warlords! For the record, Ching Deng Tong and his son are not historical characters.
  • My character was Ching Deng Tong, while Cao Cao is a NPC. Bastard survived because I got a Double Zero (!) roll in my first poison resistance test. Talk about bad luck... I played Ching Deng Tong for 30 sessions or so (about 1 per year of game ti…

  • Posted By: James_NostackIn my view, Dungeons & Dragons is a tactical war-game with light support for RP. You are completely getting it backwards, aren't you?
  • Posted By: AndyPosted By: Per FischerI mean, the map is nice an' all, but why order it and give it to the pundit? Jong lives in Uruguay. Pundy is Jong's regular GM and friend. Posted By: Per FischerAnd, even stranger, why post about it here? Because…
  • We used a local company here in Montevideo, called 4 Tintas (4 Inks). They do a lot of work for companies, architects, engineers, artists, etc. By the way, that's the actual size of the map. We didn't increase it or anything. :-)
  • Our Pendragon group gave this to our GM. Yes, the full-size map is THAT big.
  • The odds of winning such a lawsuit are minimal, given that the Go Play logo was already used by other companies before some gamers began using it.
  • I think that criticizing the ENnies for "remaining skewed towards the mainstream" misses the point of a fan-based award. Good choice of judges for 2008, by the way.
  • Posted By: AndyWho ran it? I have a copy of the book and want to run/play it sometime, but the lists of Taos and the like were pretty extensive, I felt like I had to learn a lot before beginning. Was this not the case? -Andy Taos are very easy t…
  • Ah, Magic. Almost makes me feel nostalgia for the days when I went semi-pro and travelled abroad. Almost.
  • Posted By: TorquemadaWizKids suesWizards of the Coast Shit. That could get really messy and drag on for years, if you consider the parent companies involved (Hasbro and Topps, with Upper Deck trying to buy the latter).
  • Posted By: Mule Is Journalism defined by presenting data in a way devoid of "a moral"? Is it useful to consider attempting to play an RPG not to create a "story," but to perform "fictional journalism"? Is "journalism" a good way of describing "Sim…
  • This is a facón, a knife used by gauchos (River Plate cowboys) since colonial times. "Many quarrels arose, which from the general manner of fighting with the knife often proved fatal." - Charles Darwin, The Voyage of the Beagle.
  • We drink heavy doses of Mate and good old fashioned Coca-Cola in glass bottles: That's the Brazilian bottle. The Uruguayan version uses a plastic cap. Coffee, tea and beer make guest appearances from time to time.
  • Posted By: rumble Unfortunately, I don't think I can acquire or regularly use a gourd and a metal straw, but I will do my best to move up to loose leaves. I think I can order those bulk online. IIRC there are several online stores that can help you…
  • Posted By: rumble I drink Yerba Mate now, after reading about it in his blog. I don't plan to pick up a pipe anytime soon, though. Thou are a wise man. On both counts. Out of curiosity, how do you drink your Mate?
  • Posted By: Anders Larsen That is interesting. It seems like he is using the formula: Premise: (personality trait) (people) (what they do) in (setting) Genre: (genre)/(genre)/... Yeah, that's basically it. The results are very wacky at times, but t…
  • Anyone seen this?
  • Posted By: buzzI think the fact that this thread has devolved the way it has speaks volumes about the kind of discourse theRPGsite inspires. I feel like I'm on RPG.net. By your logic, neither Story Games, the Forge, Wizards, or any other forum are w…
  • Q-Workshop: Several dollars each. I really like the ones that look they are composed of hundreds of compressed skulls. Ah yes, I forgot to add that they're not exactly cheap.
  • Posted By: lukzuI love internet arguments: If I present a contrasted case, it's a logical fallacy. If I refute or respond, without huge overtures of internet nice-nice, I'm being condescending and a hypocrite. There's a million ways to make an ar…
  • I once ran a one-shot for an entire high school class and their English professor (she agreed to this, so long as everyone spoke in English). The game of choice was Alta Inseguridad ("High Insecurity"), a basic Spanish game with no fantasy or sci-…
  • This place has some awesome-looking dice. Me? I've bought most of my dice on trips to Argentina and Brazil (not sure if I got some when I visited Chile). The majority of them are d6, because I'm a Shadowrun junkie. :-p
  • Posted By: lukzuJong, Awesome, let's spill the trolling over from one site to another! Why do I remember that bit about letting those who are free of sin throw the first stone? Posted By: lukzu But let's go to the big board! What did the man actu…

  • From secular Uruguay, Happy Family Day! (*) (*) I shit you not. This is how it's actually called here.
  • Posted By: JonathanWaltonJongWK, I don't really expect most new roleplayers are going to walk into a store and pick up Freeport. And, if they do, hopefully GR will direct them (in the text) to the SRD on the web or Fudge or something. Honestly, I …
  • Hi Troy, Posted By: Troy_Costisick Man, that's been a model in RPGs almost from the beginning. Each game and each company makes that call differently for different reasons. There are advantages to doing it both ways. Peace, -Troy It may have wor…
  • There's the problem of making the customer pay twice to play: once for the rules and another one for the setting. It might not be a big problem for veteran gamers, but it certainly is for people new to the hobby.
  • (Posting again a comment I made on another forum) "Being the GM of a player who doesn't give his character any goals or motivations can be a frustrating experience. Are we supposed to fill in the blanks for him? Keep throwing hooks until they bite,…

  • Posted By: droogI would just like to note that I have a friend living in Bolivia, who tells me that Uruguay is one of the whitest and most middle-class places in South America. Take that for what it's worth. Yep, that's pretty much true. The US Depa…

  • Yes - like how hard it is to find certain brands of soda pop there: Snipe at Pundit all you want, but leave my country out of it. It won't do you any good going down that path.

  • Midnight is an excellent d20 variant. Next time I run D&D, I'll be using its magic system for sure. Iron Heroes and True 20 are also very good, and they sit at opposite ends of the complexity scale.
  • Posted By: DanielSolisAll very cool stuff, but my first questions are: Who is the Nintendo of storygame/RPGs? Dungeons & Dragons.
  • Posted By: Joshua BishopRobyHow the hell does a pdf "crash"? o.O Sounds like Pundit's got a shaky copy of something he's reading files with. It happens, though I have absolutely no idea as to why. The first (and quickly corrected) PDF version of S…

  • Posted By: Andy Normally, I attribute anything that the Pundit touches as "poisoned" (My favorite quote these days is, "A teaspon of shit in a gallon of ice cream makes a gallon of shit"). However, seeing the goals of the site, how it's working so f…
  • Posted By: Andy Saying that there's a chance to educate or expose ENWorld to other styles of play, other modes of thought, in a community where they know what they like, and love doing it, is a little invasive and disrespectful IMO. Bingo.
  • Add me to the Amber fans. It's great to see a game where the rules actively encourage a player's imagination.
  • Posted By: Clinton R. NixonJB,I've read some True20, and I think Conviction's implementation is weakened by the genericization of the system, but you could bring it back. Green Ronin didn't include Corruption rules in True 20 because they felt it wa…
  • Cool! I suspect a new thread would be appropriate, but I'd like to hear about the Uruguayan RPG scene, personally. Ok, I'll see what I can do. It's been a busy week. Re: South American games -- The only ones I know of are Brazilian (like 3D&…
